About Me

Hi! My name is Kristen Castoro born and raised in Hopatcong, NJ. I am currently enrolled in the Master of Arts in Communication program at Marist College. I have a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Communication Studies from West Virginia University. I work for Prudential in the Office of Service Member's Group Life Insurance (OSGLI) department assisting active duty military and veterans with their life insurance. My short-term and long-term goal is to become a leader and educate others to follow their passion in life. In my current position I am taking on extra projects and mentoring new hires to become a leader in the learning and development department. In the long term I plan to use the knowledge from my master's program and current experience as an educator to become a professor. What I love the most about being a mentor is that you are constantly learning whether it is new material, process improvements, or about your colleagues.

In my free time I love to travel, go on hikes, stay active, and find a quiet place to snuggle up with a book. I absolutely hate the idea of a Kindle or Tablet, I do not think anything compares to a physical book in front of you or how it smells when it is brand new. One day I plan to have a library in my house with a nice collection of all the books I have purchased over the years. I'm an animal lover, especially when it comes to dogs! If I had the room and time I would rescue all of the stray dogs I could and give them a loving home. I plan to volunteer my time in the future to help find dogs homes and do whatever I can to help save dog's lives. I've realized that life is too short; eat the chocolate cake you've been dying to have, take that vacation you've dreamed about, go splurge on a new outfit because you never know what tomorrow will bring.

  1. What cuties! I'm totally jealous - no pets for me right now. I agree with your stance on dogs AND Kindles - yes and no, please, respectively. :)

(This is Amanda, by the way - it wants me to comment as the group blog. Argh!)

  2. Thank you! :) You should definitely consider getting a pet when you have the time! They can be a lot of work but are so worth it.

That's strange that it wants you to comment as the group blog, it should give you the option to change the "comment as" to your individual blog name before you hit publish.

  3. I love dogs!! For a minute there, I thought it was my daughter writing..haha! All she want is a library in the house for her book collection. She dislikes the kindle, nook or any reading tablet, and she's 13 years old.
